Yellowstone Remains Busy

Yellowstone Remains Busy

~ by Amy Lignor

Yes, even though Yellowstone has had to deal with some of the worst happenings of late (a grizzly bear attack against a hiker), they have still come back reporting one of the busiest months for visitors and tourist attendance that they have ever had. July was a huge month, even with the negative news, and it’s not actually all that surprising when one thinks of the park and what it has to offer.

There are many National Parks across the U.S., some famous for hunting and fishing opportunities, while others offer stunning views. However, Yellowstone is still the one that encompasses it all. Yellowstone is the oldest in the continental United States – and the reasons for its popularity are endless. The Rocky Mountains are the surroundings, with Yellowstone sitting at their very core. Pine forests that go on for miles and expansive grass valleys are joined by lakes and streams that dot the landscape.

But along with all this beauty – and even with the headlines in regards to wild animals bringing about harm – visitors still rate one of the “best” things Yellowstone has to give as being their wildlife preserves. They love enjoying the homes of the most wondrous creatures to behold; from wolves to bears to flocks of birds, allowing those with cameras a chance to view extraordinary creatures in their own natural habitats.

Expertly guided tours are available within Yellowstone; safaris where visitors can go exploring with the nature pros, and learn all imagesthere is to know about the domains of elk and buffalo herds, moose, foxes, the stunning bald eagle and, of course, those unforgettable wolves.

Deep in the Lamar Valley, the wolf pack can be seen. Some state that as they emerge from that deep, quiet forest and raise their heads to the sky, it is almost a mystical event to hear them howl. The Yellowstone wolves are an important part of the ecosystem that thrives there, and the safari allows people to better understand the elegant and refined predators.

And when summer winds blow away, Yellowstone will begin setting up for visitors to enjoy the wintertime safari choices, where either a historic Bombardier snow coach or horse-drawn sleighs offer Christmas magic, leading the whole family through the National Elk Refuge in Jackson, Wyoming – which the Jackson Elk Herd call home.

The people continue to come in droves to Yellowstone, capturing the most amazing sights – whether animal or scenic. And, of course, Old Faithful remains the largest ‘must-see’ attraction, as visitors take in this paradise on earth. And it doesn’t seem like Yellowstone’s numbers will be dropping anytime soon.
