Welcome to the NFL Shark Tank

Welcome to the NFL Shark Tank

~Amy Lignor

Yes, it’s a television show where the Richies listen to the poor people with ideas and then rake them over the coals before saying whether or not they will be partners with them. The Richies insert the money necessary and then take a whole bunch at the back end. However, you can’t get mad at the guys (and usually one woman), because they say far ahead of time that you are walking into the “Shark Tank” so it shouldn’t be all that big of a surprise if Jaws takes a chunk out of you.

Then…there are some who wish to make money by either pleasing or teasing – and that is where the NFL’s controversial subject comes into play. During Super Bowl week (again, not Shark Week, mind you, Super Bowl week), there were more people coming on the air and standing up for poor Marshawn Lynch than ever before. They felt bad that everyone was coming down on the guy for having such a hard time with the media. He was uncomfortable with them, so why should the man have to talk to them? Well. Because it’s part of his contract. So what Marshawn Lynch did was simply come out, strutting onto the field, and say the same line over and over again. Course, that particular line has now been copyrighted so that the ‘poor’ NFL player who doesn’t like to speak and has been just bullied by everyone can make millions anyway.

The actual football future of the Seattle Seahawks running back is supposedly in question. Even Warren Moon, a Hall of Fame QB, spoke last week about how he’s sure Lynch still wants to play. Whereas there have many reports – mostly coming from the Lynch camp – that states he’s looking to retire. And if you believe that, I have some lovely property overlooking the Pacific Ocean for you to buy. The only catch is that it just happens to be located in New Mexico.

Now Lynch wants a bit more sympathy. After all, he’s 28-years-old. Whew! Poor guy, can’t understand how he even stands up anymore. And he is really considering whether he wants to go through the pain and suffering of training in the off-season and then have to play again. The head coach, Pete Carroll, has reported that the team has been trying to negotiate a contract extension for a while with Lynch, but there has been no news regarding whether or not Lynch will suit up with a Seahawk on his helmet this coming season.

Thankfully, either way, he’ll be just fine. After all, with Lynch trademarking: “I’m just here so I won’t get fined,” he’s looking at building the bank account in other ways. Can’t blame him. This is a capitalist society and striking while you’re hot – especially if you won’t even be in the NFL from here on out (yeah, right), is a completely normal thing to do.

But it doesn’t stop there. The official document has been filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the above line with shirts, hats, beanies, hooded sweatshirts and other apparel listed. But there is also another. Lunch also applied for a trademark in order to control clothing with the term: “About That Action Boss.” And, yes, he is currently already selling apparel with this on his website for those who wish to support the poor man who is so frightened of the press.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be any bother or issue whatsoever if someone else was doing this. But when the press are actually the ones saying to leave the poor guy alone just so he can go out and pretty much say to them “In Your Face” is a little beyond stupid.

The only thing left is for Lynch to join the actual Shark Tank people. They talk over each other so he wouldn’t have to worry about being heard there. And if he likes something, all he needs is to give a thumbs-up and smile. Perfect career if his time with the Seattle Seahawks has come to a close.

This sports subject has definitely climbed into the number one spot for the NFL leaving “Deflate Gate” treading water.
