The Facts: Eye Care Professionals Must Keep Up With Change

7_43_7_43_300_353_IMG_0084Innovation, thankfully, never stops when it comes to the field of optometry/ophthalmology. Creative, skilled minds are constantly working to discover better technology that will help serve the client/patient in a far more concise and quick manner.

Change is also occurring in the eye care world because of the growing demand for eye care services. Population-based studies have rightfully predicted a dramatic rise in the number of older individuals needing eye care. This leaves many professionals with the growing need to be well-equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology to meet the influx of clients.

The Department of Health projected an ever-increasing number of patients needing eye care in the coming years noting that Americans will live longer, healthier lives, and that tomorrow’s seniors will be more affluent and better educated.

Higher incomes, better education, a wider demographic, more employee benefits being provided by companies that include eye care services – all of these facts are positive for the industry. The only negative seems to be the increasing number of medical maladies, such as cataract development, glaucoma, age-related changes to the back of the eye, including macular degeneration, and increased risk of diabetes.

This is where the world of fundus photography takes over. Fundus photography is the latest and most advanced technology for the eye care professional. It is a ‘must-have’ for eye doctors. In fact everyone involved in the eye care business, from private practices to surgery centers and hospitals, need fundus technology on hand in order to increase the overall eye health of individuals.

NIA and the Department of Health were not the only ones that understood what the future of eye care was going to be about. Dale Brodsky, a 21-year veteran of the industry, also knew that there would be major advances in the industry which would cause health care professionals to require a person they could trust to deliver the best equipment.

St. Louis Ophthalmologic Equipment Company was Mr. Brodsky’s first venture, offering new and reconditioned equipment to the eye care professional at affordable prices. The company has been a huge success for more than two decades. Then, in 2007, Brodsky saw an increasing demand and created Fundus Photo, LLC – which deals in the greatest technological advance in the eye care industry.

Weighing the pros and cons of which equipment supplier to trust can be a daunting task. But when the facts are known, all optometrists, ophthalmologists, retinal surgeons and other eye care professionals see that with the increasing demand comes an increasing need for Fundus Photo to be their supplier.

Brodsky handles the initial investment by giving back to his clients. By providing a zero-cost technical support line and charging no fees to the doctor whatsoever, Fundus Photo alleviates much of the concern from the process.

The fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population is seniors older than 85 years and most experts agree that the total number of patients requiring ophthalmic services will rise, especially if proposed health care reforms add 30 million more patients to the eye care professional’s client list.

In addition, another age group is about to seek a great deal of eye care as well. Care of younger patients is growing because of the detriment of computers, cell phones, iPads and other electronics to young eyes.

An eye care professional is essential for good overall health. In the end, demand will escalate and so will the demand for a reliable, dedicated supplier with a stellar reputation who can give the eye doctor what he needs. Solution? Look no further than Your Partner in Imaging.
