Solar Pump Technology Earns Blue Ribbon in the Lone Star State

In the immense state of Texas, water is the key ingredient for all landowners to keep property thriving. And with every step that solar technology takes, the ability for Texas landowners to discover and utilize far more beneficial ways to help store and distribute water, gets easier.

Solar Pump System

Solar Pump System

When you say the words “water pump” to certain age groups, anything from a metal contraption making a whole lot of noise to a red-handled pump “on the prairie” pouring water into a bucket can come to mind. But in 2015, utilizing solar energy – which is certainly a resource that is in abundant supply in Texas – increasingly provides a desirable power option for that water production and distribution.

In this newer, “greener” age, solar power is a huge topic of discussion – the sun is being used for electrical energy and while wind energy has produced water across Texas for generations and generations, and solar water pumps that make complete economic sense for the landowner/manager’s needs.

The system, itself, is easy to understand: when the sun is shining, the water pumps are working. There are a number of systems on the market that can be used for both domestic and city needs. But solar pumps are a definite “must-have” when it comes to agriculture and livestock, seeing as that they can provide water to cattle in remote locations, help food plots grow, and farms and ranches succeed, helping landowners meet their objectives.

Solar water pumping system installation is straightforward; the entire system uses a solar powered water pump and controller, solar panels, pole top solar panel racks, and a complete system wiring harness for quick installation. Standard systems can pump from vertical lifts of 500 feet and more, or pump up to 12,000 gallons per day. There are even higher volume pumps that offer up to 40,000+ gallons per day, and pumps that accommodate even deeper wells.

The landowner in the 21st century has far more options than ever before. And the solar technology for the agriculture industry is taking significant leaps forward every year. Providing water to cattle (or wildlife) in remote locations used to be an impossibility – a problem that caused unwanted stress. But with solar pumps, the necessary water supply for the landowner is always there. From livestock watering to irrigation to water supply for remote farms and ranches, using the sun solves many issues in a lower maintenance system. Not to mention, the ability to create and maintain fish ponds on the property, orchards and nurseries, and one of the largest issues for a successful landowner – the ability to always have on “tap” the correct wildlife water supply.  More extensive water distribution allows wildlife and livestock to better utilize pastures and helps the habitats thrive.

Additional water is a major necessity for livestock and wild game at locations where electrical power is most definitely not available; nor would it be economically feasible. But by using the largest source of energy that Texas can claim, landowners can now use solar pumps in order to relieve the stress and solve this once unsolvable problem.

For any Texas landowner, solar pumps are a realm of technology that must be explored.
