Looking Forward to a Green 2015

For those people who had a 2014 that was out of this world, they are hoping and praying that it will continue on. For those who can’t wait to see 2014 go into the past, they are looking forward to starting out again on a new journey with a clean slate. And when it comes to making this world green in 2015, there are many places to begin.

Yes, the resolutions are mostly diets and trying to lose that holiday weight. The second is usually spending less on cigarettes, as well as making more money in the New Year. But there is a way to make more money when it comes to home and hearth. So, the old adage ‘change begins at home’ is a definite must for those who wish to live better, healthier, cleaner lives – and save more money while helping the environment at the same time.

2015 can be all about streamlining your lifestyle. This is the modern age, and even with all the problems and nightmares happening in politics as well as global problems that are keeping the US on edge, taking care of the home and cutting the amount of stressful and expensive things in our daily lives are the best way to start off.

Want something to do New Year’s Day besides dealing with the hangover? Clean it out, people. There are cabinets, closets, drawers full of junk that can be thrown. There are recyclables that can be given to the right place, and there are old things to you that would be absolute treasures to someone else in need if you were kind enough to donate them and send it their way. There is a list in your home of clothing you never wear, furniture you’ve relegated to a back room that you can’t stand, even television sets and electronics you’re tossing because Santa brought something new to your door. If you’re giving it up…give it out. Charity begins at home.

You’ll feel better starting with a clean home slate; and you’ll feel even better knowing that someone who really needs the items now has a late Christmas present.

While getting rid of the clutter, remember to take the time to ensure the health and safety of your own family. The home may be getting on in years, and everything from the gas and waste systems to the electric systems should be checked and updated. Investing in everything right now will ensure that you save some serious cash throughout 2015 by not having to bring in professionals to fix old, out-of-date systems that will continue to break.

Examples of this can include carbon monoxide detectors, fire detectors, blocking leaks by clearing out the chimney or vents – safety is necessary and produces savings.

2015 is the perfect year to decrease that carbon footprint per household. The quickest way and most beneficial to you, your family, and the world is by cutting down all the energy you’re using in your house that does not need to be used. Lights, air conditioners and heaters, new showerheads – there is a long list of things you can do as a homeowner that can be found all across the internet. You can learn all the little nips, tucks, and transformations that will literally put more money in your pocket and provide for a cleaner world for the next generation to enjoy.

Looking toward 2015, take time out to not only look back on great 2014 memories, but also gear up and get ready for a life of optimum efficiency. Beginning at home in your daily life will expand into your kids’ lives, your job, your relationships – improving everything so that 2015 goes down in the record books as one heck of a good year!

Happy New Year, Everyone!
