Help save the San Rafael Swell from drilling

We need your help to protect the San Rafael Swell. The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Utah state office intends to lease for oil and gas drilling more than 79,000 acres of proposed SanRafaelSwell_LeslieScopesAndersonwilderness in the San Rafael Swell — the jagged cliff faces, narrow slot canyons, and hidden valleys that form one of the scenic and geological wonders of the world.

Please make a donation today to help us stop them from destroying these lands belonging to all Americans.

The BLM is carrying out decisions made in plans issued in the final days of the Bush administration as its excuse for going ahead with this terrible idea.

Incredibly, the sale of these new leases comes at a time when there are more than 3 million acres of BLM lands in Utah already under lease but not being developed by industry.

Our staff is working hard to block these leases from being sold.

Will you join the effort?

The Salt Lake Tribune editorialized that the auction list included four leases that impinge on the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry. “Only after the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance pointed out that the parcels were inside a 721-acre National Natural Landscape designated by Congress in 1965 did the agency concede it had made a mistake,” the Tribune editors wrote. “Such errors don’t inspire trust that BLM officials are taking a close look at the areas targeted for leasing.”

Help us protect the San Rafael Swell by making a donation today.

Thank you for all you do,
