Fish hard, play more with the all new Skeeter Solera™ 189
By Craig Lamb
Combine the superior smooth, dry ride of a deep-V hull, and a performance-driven fishing rig with room for the entire family and the result is the new Skeeter Solera 189.
The new Solera redefines the fish-and-play boat category by combining the better of two worlds into one rig.
Skeeter’s reputation for designing and building performance-handling hulls is evident in the handling of the Solera 189. So is the long list of standard features that serious fishermen expect from Skeeter.
Performance and fish-ability are delivered in a wide-open, spacious and comfortable interior with room for a family to fish, play and cruise all in the same package. Head out for a morning of serious fishing and then pick up the family for an afternoon of water sports. The Solera 189 is ready for it all.
The Solera189 is powered by a Yamaha SHO®150 horsepower outboard for quick hole shots, faster top speeds, and smarter fuel economy. Up front is a powerful Minn Kota® Terrova® 80 pound thrust trolling motor for staying on top of the fish and powering through strong currents. Trolling motor batteries get quickly and efficiently charged with the standard Minn Kota® 10×3 Precision onboard charger.
The Terrova® features new Lift-Assist Design that takes the work out of stowing, making it effortless to raise the motor by barely lifting a finger. This family-friendly feature is one of the many well thought out choices made by Skeeter that are standard on the Solera. Also standard is a trolling motor sliding bracket.
Skeeter’s reputation as the best-equipped fishing rig with standard features continues with the electronics. The Solera 189 comes with a Humminbird® HELIX® 7 that is packed to the gills with technology. Anyone aboard can use the HELIX® because it’s easy to use, dependable and unbelievably clear, bright, and fast.
Skeeter engineers took into consideration the abundant storage needed by a family to store fishing tackle, water sports gear, and personal items. The result is a boat with plenty of storage compartments for keeping gear dry, organized and at the ready. [“at the ready”? Or just “and ready?”]
Family-friendly features include a ski tow pylon and a stand-up top for instant pop-up shade in the midday sun. A bow cushion package adds comfort up front for passengers. When it comes time for listening to favorite tunes those can be played on the Bluetooth capable Infinity® stereo with four corresponding speakers.
Skeeter’s Revolutionary REACT KEEL complements the peace of mind and dry ride offered by the deep-V hull. The REACT KEEL in windy conditions tracks the hull in a straighter line to resist torque steer and cross winds. The results on the Solera 189 is a boat tracks straight without bow swing for prime fish-ability.
