You might say “new” is a reoccurring theme of Miami’s favorite boat show coming up soon. A new location with hundreds of new boats, including never-before-seen models being debuted by Carolina Skiff, is a great way to kick off the season.

Few boat shows offer buyers the chance to see new boats where they ultimately belong—floating on the water in a real time setting. You can now do that and more at the 2017 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show.

This year’s event, conveniently scheduled during President’s Day weekend, is Feb. 16-20. The show has a new home at the Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin on Biscayne Bay. The location on Virginia Key is easy to get to by land and water.

Carolina Skiff will pull out some surprises at Booth B241. Several new models are set to debut at the show with a first-look and chances to take demo rides available. What’s to come is a closely guarded secret, so being there to see the models for the first time will be a treat.

Carolina Skiff, the originator of the durable, versatile stable and economical boat on the planet, will exhibit more than a dozen new and current models. Dealers and factory staff will be on hand to help shoppers find the perfect boat to suit their needs on the water, be it fishing, cruising, or any other water sport.

On display at the booth will be the Sea Chaser models made by Carolina Skiff. Combining the better of two worlds and proving it can be done in the same boat is the HFC, which means Hybrid Fish & Cruise. Devoted fishermen and active families will find plenty or room, and features, making the HFC a multi-functional boat.

The HFC comes with more standard features than most boats. You get a heavy duty, stainless steel fold down cleats, LED lighting beneath the gunwale, a stainless steel anchor chock, and wind-less ready anchor storage for safety and convenience. More standard features include an insulated and lockable fish box, built in lifting eye, illuminated, stainless steel cup holders, tilt steering wheel, and digital command link.

At the show, you can also check out the Ultra Series. It’s like owning three boats in one. Offshore exploring, fishing inshore tidal creeks, and cruising a large river or lake is all possible in the Ultra.

With the Ultra you get more in the same package. Hardcore coastal anglers can spend a morning offshore or inshore and enjoy a smooth, dry ride in a boat laid out for serious fishing. It’s easy to convert the Ultra to a family boat for cruising or water sports playtime. Just store the tackle and snap in roomy, comfortable seat cushions.

Families looking for a boat for fishing, cruising and water sports will find the DLV Series to their liking. The center console design makes it easy for anglers to move around the deck. With six models from which to choose, the DLV design enables anglers to navigate across shallow flats, up coastal rivers and even into tidal creeks, as well as make occasional offshore excursions.

The modified Tri-V hull design allow for a smooth, dry ride. Wide open deck space, large front and rear fishing decks, rear cushion jump seats and a choice of a Bimini Top or T-Top appeal to family-friendly anglers. For serious fishing, the console features and open face for flush-mounting electronics up to 10 inches.

There will be plenty of boats to see and much to do. More than 1,300 boats on land and docked within 550-plus slips, including a deep-water basin for yachts, will greet visitors. There’s a closed and open-air tented exhibit space for marine accessories, electronics, engines and apparel.

The show address is 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami. Water taxis, shuttle buses and adequate parking for vehicles and boats will be available.
