A “Real” Super Bowl Could Still Be Had

A “Real” Super Bowl Could Still Be Had

By Amy Lignor

Super_Bowl_XLIII_-_Thunderbirds_Flyover_-_Feb_1_2009It is no surprise that the “experts” have altered their initial opinions when it comes to the “best” teams that will head to the Super Bowl. In fact, the Baltimore Ravens were, right off the bat, many peoples’ pick to win it all. However, with the play that has happened thus far, that pick has fallen apart.

Aaron Rodgers, the King of QB’s as far as many are concerned, is still looked at to take the Green Bay Packers to the end. It is his time to shine, with most believing that last year the Seahawks should not have had the Packers spot in the big game.

The reason behind why a “real” Super Bowl could be had this year comes from the fact that the Patriots and the Packers could still meet. Talk about a game! Whether a fan or hater of one or both teams, it would be a game involving the two most outstanding QB’s in the NFL. This would be a match of two literal gunslingers getting TD after TD until the scoreboard erupts into flames.

You see, many thought that Tom Brady of the Patriots could be a no-show in the post-season that would, most likely, cause the Patriots to fail big time. What happened this past week, however, was the announcement that, even though the federal appeals court granted a request by the NFL and NFL Players Association to expedite a hearing on the suspension of Tom Brady for his supposed role in the ridiculous “Deflategate,” the court also said that the earliest they would even hear the appeal would be February 1st. Seeing as that the Super Bowl will be played on February 7th, the court’s ruling eliminates Brady’s benching and guarantees that he will play the entire regular season and postseason.

It was on September 3rd that U.S. District Court Judge Richard M. Berman overturned the suspension of Brady and made Goodell’s life a living…well, annoyance. And because of the fact that Brady will need to do something truly horrible, or something would have to happen to the stars on the Patriots team in order for them to not win the AFC Championship Came this year, there is still a very big shot that Goodell will have to stand on a stage once again and hand the Lombardi Trophy to a QB who Goodell has (thus far) tried unsuccessfully to bury.

In other words, if all things go the way they seem to be going, it will only be Aaron Rodgers and the Packers who could deny Brady his fifth Super Bowl ring. But…can they? Oh, yes. They can. Aaron Rodgers continues to prove that he is unflappable…especially when playing at Lambeau Field in front of the Packers die-hard loyal fans. He has yet to throw a pick on that field, and he has yet to show any panic or nerves whatsoever. This is a calm, controlled, and extremely smart QB who has the support of millions.

So…who is number one where QB’s are concerned? It’s a toss-up really, but it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that football fans could see a Super Bowl that would be high-scoring and action-packed if the Packers meet the Patriots. And, that, would be a dream come true.
